Hello everyone! Today, I want to share a fun little treat I made for my daughter’s tennis team. She is in 8th grade and this is her second year on the team. She LOVES tennis. Yes, this is the same daughter who has been doing 4H the last few months. Our spring semester is a busy one to say the least!
They had a big match yesterday and I stumbled on these tennis gumballs and snatched them up to make “something” for the team. Now, if you don’t have a tennis player, you could do the same thing for any sport! I saw soccer gumboils and I’ve seen other sport ball shapes in the past as well.
I wanted to use their school colors, so I went with Basic Black and silver embossing powder. Now, for the ball, I really struggled. Stampin’ Up doesn’t really have a “tennis ball” color. And these gumboils are really a neon lime color. So, there was no way to match the balls, so I went with Crushed Curry. I felt like it was the closest I could get. Once they were done, it didn’t really seem like such a big deal.
My daughter and her doubles partner wear matching white tennis skirts. So I was staring at all my framelits trying to decide what I could use as a skirt. And then, I realized we DO have a skirt Framelit as well as a stamp!! I was so excited! LOL! The Bear Hugs set has a cute little skirt that worked perfectly.
For the boys on the team, I left the skirts off… Ha! The tennis ball was made simply with a Layering Circle Framelit. I used two layering circles to create a white “frame.” Then I cut them in half and glued them to the ball for the white stripes.
I got ZERO feedback from my 14 year old after she gave them all out- ugh, teenagers!! But, who cares, I think they are cute and I am sure the kids loved them even if they are too cool to let mom know! 😉
