SWEET Back to School Gifts

It’s Back to School time here in San Antonio, and all three of my girls are going to NEW schools this year! I’ve been a teacher for the past 16 years and have always had the luxury of taking them with me to the school where I taught. But, now that I am no longer teaching, that means the two little ones are headed to the neighborhood school and my oldest is off to middle school!
So, needless to say, the back to school anxiety level is a little higher than normal. So, I want to get the girls to help me make something to take their teacher at “meet the teacher” this week. A little ice breaker if you will!
It all started with that cute ceramic strawberry basket I found at Stein Mart. It was only a few dollars and I thought we could make a little strawberry treat and I could make a little strawberry tag and we’d be done. Ha… y’all know I never do anything simple! 🙂
So, I searched Pinterest for strawberry sweets. I found two that sounded amazing so I made both! The first one is this amazing Strawberry Yogurt Cake. A-MA-ZING!
So, I cut a few pieces for each teacher and they fit perfectly in the Stampin’ Up Kraft Take Out Box. It’s no available yet, but will be in the new catalog on August 28th! Make sure you line your box with wax paper! 🙂
I left the box as is, plain Kraft, and made a really bright and fun tag. If you remember this Petite Purse I made, you will recognize this tag! I had the little purse in mind when I made it.
I used the Stripes Embossing Folder to create the gingham circle. (You ink the folder, emboss the cardstock, emboss the folder again and turn the cardstock 90 degrees and emboss again.) I created the strawberries out of the Groovy Love hearts to make the strawberries. They are embossed with clear embossing powder. The pennants are from Bravo, Sumthin’ Sumthin’ and Big News. The twine is form the Watercolor Winter Card Kit available in the new catalog.
The next A-MA-ZING desert I made was the Strawberry Pie Bars. They look really fancy, but so easy!!
Now, I didn’t want to stack these because they are gooey, so I watched this video on how to make a Double Hamburger Box! Brilliant and also very easy! Make sure you line your box with wax paper! I actually adhered it to the bottom and the top with Fast Fuse.
Perfect Fit!!
I kept it simple and made my kids write a little note to their teachers. My oldest has lots of teachers, but one of them is one of my BFFs, so we made these treats just for her!! 🙂 (And yes, it looks like we didn’t work on handwriting all summer long!!!!)
I just tied it with a ribbon and added the tag.
Oh, and remember that really cute ceramic strawberry basket?? Oh yea, I needed something for that! Ha!
A Strawberry Hibiscus Handsoap from Bath and Body! It’s tied up with a Gussetted Bag and the Chevron Naturals ribbon.
So, were off today and tomorrow to meet their teachers and deliver the gifts! I can’t wait for them to go back to school! It will be the first time ever I send my kids to school and I stay home! Woot woot!
My baby Addie is staring Kindergarten…
My beautiful middle child is going into 2nd grade…

And, I’m not sure how this happened so quickly, but my oldest is going to Middle School!!! What?!?!
