Good morning y’all! It’s another scorcher here in South Texas. I think the heat has zapped my MOJO! I’ve got nothing but time on my hands this week and I’m having such a hard time being creative! Why is that!?! I did get one cute card made yesterday that I am excited to share with you.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, my most
used stamp set so far from the new Stampin’ Up catalog has to be For the
Birds! It was not one that jumped out at me right away, and
it was the last one I added to my order, but man, I love it! It’s a
line drawn image set, which generally requires coloring. And, if you
are a follower of my blog, you know I used to refuse any coloring
until my mother gave me some coloring lessons! But, I know many of
you feel the same way. Coloring an image sometimes doesn’t turn out
how you hoped. So, one way to use a line image without coloring is to
do paper piecing. This means to stamp the image on a piece of
patterned paper, cut it out and adhere it to the same image stamped
on another (usually white) paper. I love the way this turns out!

You can see I stamped the image on Whisper White, then again on Pacific Point DSP. I cut the mailbox out of the dotted paper and the bird out of the word printed side. I adhered the bird with my two way glue pen and the mailbox with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I added a tiny bit of shadow below with my Basic Grey ink and a blender pen. The hearts were stamped with the little postal stamp from Little Labels on some long ago retired newsprint paper and punched with the Itty Bitty heart. One I cut a little bit off and adhered it like it was already going into the mailbox!
Other details:
- Gingham background created by inking the Striped Embossing Folder with Pacific Point ink and running the paper through the Big Shot twice on Whisper White Paper.
- Ribbon- LOVE this ribbon! 1/4″ Stitched Grosgrain Pacific Point.
- Whisper White Embossed with Fancy Fan Folder
- The Basic Black border was cut with the Large Scallop Edgelet and then I added some details using the new Stampin’ Pierce Mat.
My inspiration came from three challenges today:
On a side note, I am leaving town tomorrow to spend the week with my parents in Tennessee. I do have some posts planned, but I am not sure if I will get something up everyday (calm down MOM!) But, for sure on July 1st for the new Stampin’ Celebration Blog Hop, Tuesday for Hand Stamped Sentiments and both Friday’s for the Friday Mashup! So, don’t think I have abandoned you, I’m just spending some time with the fam!
Have a great one!
