Pardon the dust…

Whew! What a BUSY Saturday! I drove to Austin to go to the IKEA store for some big items in my scrapbook room!
I’ll tell you more about it at the end of this post, but that’s where I was yesterday! Sorry!
Today’s cute is so cute! I love anything strawberries! And this is one of the very easiest ways to make “punch art”

All that little strawberry is made of is one Full Heart Real Red punch and one Gumball Green Triple Blossom Punch! You can stop there, but I added one of the In Color Dahlias! Adds a lot of dimesnions to it I think.

The other piece on this card that is really eye catching is the embossed Soft Sued piece. It’s so rustic looking and all I did to it was run it through the Big Shot using the Woodgrain Embossing Folder! I also used DSP from Polka Dot Parade and Summer Smooch.

This card was inspired using these following challenges:

So, as I mentioned, I was at IKEA yesterday. It’s about a two hour drive from my house, so I left early in the morning. OK, so 7:30 isn’t really THAT early!! But, I wanted to get there when they opened so it wouldn’t be too crowded and I could really plan and think. I decided that if I won the Artisan contest, I was going to spend the prize money on revamping my Scrapbook Room. I’ve given you a tour before and you can see it HERE. I’m very blessed to have a huge room and it was already very nice before, but I wanted it more streamlined. I want more stuff hidden. I want less stuff thrown into nooks and crannies! And, I’d like to be able to hold some of my classes in there.

So, I had a big plan. I had a map of my room drawn out with measurements. I had a giant brainstorming list that I’ve been working on for weeks. And, I had the actually “buy something for this” list. That list included about 7 things. So, I went alone so I could really focus and think. When it’s two hours away, you can’t afford to make mistakes. I floated around taking pictures with my phone and writing numbers down. If you haven’t been to IKEA before, it’s GIANT. You write the aisle and bin numbers down of the items you want and then at the end you go into a big Ware house and pull your stuff.

So, about 2/3 of the way through the store, I look down and MY LIST IS GONE! Yes, my “Buy this today” list with a billion item numbers written on it! OMG! Epic. Fail! So, I turn around, go against traffic for like two miles praying I find it. And, low and behold, pretty far back, I found it stuck to the top of a shelf I had stopped to look at! Whew….

So, after I got home, Hubby and I spent about 3 hours putting things together. That’s the only part I don’t like. Then after we took the kids out to eat, I started pulling my room apart. At this point, I was starting to panic.

Uhm…. I don’t think I bought enough drawers….

And, I ended up measuring completely wrong. So, my plan did not go so well. But, were making it work. I’ll take pictures in the next few days once most of it is put away!

I also wanted to share these sweet pictures with you. My friend Tammie, who I went to convention with last year, sent me these pictures of her son Max.

Max was in my class in Kindergarten, but now he will be a 5th Grader! He had some birthday parties to go to this summer, so he asked his mom if he could make some cards! (Every mother’s dream, right!?)

So, here he goes, off to make some cards he found online that he liked.

Very precise and neat!

And here are the final products! How COOL is that! Way to go MAX!!!

  5. It's always totally stressful to re-do everything! I'm STILL spread out into three rooms after my latest over haul and still need another trip to Ikea for bookshelves that won't fit in my SUV!! Good luck and can't wait to see it when it's done!
