Hello everyone! Our last full day in SLC was a fun day! It was kind of like an excursion day on a cruise. We all had filled out a survey ahead of time and were asked what kinds of things we’d like to do. There was shopping, tours, spa… but we wanted something outdoors! AS you might know, we’ve actually spend the last three spring breaks in Utah with our kids hiking the National Parks! So, SU arranged for those of us that wanted adventure to go Snow Shoeing!
This is something we’ve never done! We’re not skiers, and really have no interest in skiing. We prefer to hike! But, snow shoeing was so much fun! At first, you have to try to walk normal- it’s a little like walking around with flippers on!
We actually had quite a big group. That’s Rachel Tessman in front of me. The first part of the train felt like it was straight up! It wasn’t easy. But, once we got to the top, it leveled off and became walking, just like hiking!
If you’ve never been snow shoeing, you put these things that kind of look like… we’ll I don’t know. Like a little tennis racket? And you have poles. The snow was already packed down (it was a heavily used trail) so we really didn’t need the poles.
It was about 28 degrees, but we worked up a sweat right away. We were all pealing off layers. By the end, you’ll see in the photo below, i was in short sleeves! And I had been so worried I wouldn’t have the right clothes and would be freezing. But, I was perfectly dressed and even had too much on!
Our group photo! It was so fun! I can’t wait to do it again!
In the evening, we headed back to Park City and got to wander around the shops for a while. Here are my shopping buddies. Our hubbies were at a bar! They escaped our shopping shenanigans pretty quickly!!!
We finished the evening with a group dinner. It was a wonderful way to end the week. The one thing I really didn’t anticipate was all the new friendships I made. I mean, that’s the theme of every SU trip or event, but for some reason, I just didn’t think about it this time. I made some new friends (or finally met people I’ve only known online) and Ted made some friends too! I will always cherish these memories. What a super special week. I can’t wait until I hat my $2 million so I can do it all again!!!
