Memories in the Making & Perfect Plum- Fancy Friday Blog Hop

Welcome to the February round of the Fancy Friday Blog Hop!!

I LOVE this month’s theme!! We’ve all been challenged to use one of our least favorite colors. Our neglected colors that never get picked. Stampin’ Up has 50 wonderful colors, but some just don’t speak to me.
What color would you say is “that color” for you?

So what color did I choose? I chose PURPLE!
Specifically Perfect Plum.
I am not a big fan of purple and I rarely use it as a focal point. I didn’t even have any full sheets of Perfect Plum or Elegant Eggplant to make a card base! But, I can tell you I love the outcome and I am so glad I played around with them!!
I did the “smoosh” technique for the background. Not sure if that’s the official term, but that’s what I call it. I took a piece of Window Sheet and dropped some Perfect Plum and Elegant Eggplant ink in the center. I spritzed a little water and then tilted it side to side to get the colors to move around. Then, I laid my Shimmery White cardstock down on the puddle and lifted up.
Next, I flicked some water drops on it and the dabbed it with a paper towel. Once it was dry, I embossed the images from Project Life Memories in the Making in White Embossing Powder. To make the front image, I stamped the same circle on Elegant Eggplant and Wisteria Wonder cardsotck. I fussy cut them and added them with Dimensionals. The sentiment is from Suite Sayings.
And I even got fancy on the inside!
So, I think I kind of like purple now… What do you think?
Thanks for hopping along this month. I hope you have been inspired to create with a color you’ve been neglecting.
Ok, you’re off to Connie for the next stop in the Bolg Hop!

  1. colors on my list as well and you did a great job with them! that technique is new to me!! I need to play with this and try it!

    • I agree with Krista! I need to try this fun technique myself! Fantastic card! I might have to break out Perfect Plum!

  2. Oh my god. I love the purple. So wicked. I am wearing a purple jacket. Isn't that nice? It's not so nice. I have blue leggings on. I should take a picture.

  3. You may be one of the bravest people I know (along with Kaitlyn and her Wisteria). Plum is one of those colors that simply defies me ever creating with it. And here you are making a perfectly fab and trendy card with it. Fabulous!
