Crayon Rubbed Embossing- HSS#136

Happy Tuesday everybody! We have a new challenge today at Hand Stamped Sentiments and it’s a technique challenge! I will say, I had to look this technique up as it is something I’ve never done! Make sure you check out the designers over at HSS as well! Everyone’s projects look so different even thought we all used the same technique!

So, I raided my kid’s crayons and rubbed down my favorite embossing folder (Chevron!) and went to town! I chose More Mustard for today’s card.

I first tried the brayer, but it inked the whole thing… So, I tried it again with just the ink pad. I rubbed it down the front and it did much better! the crayon really protected the white spaces! Awesome!!

I could not get a good picture of this card. I love, love, love it, but the picture is so washed out! More Mustard is a fabulous color for fall… Anyway, I also threw in the very yummy Naturals DSP. You must have this paper in your collection!! See the shine? It come embossed already!!

  1. That is super cute and BOLD! I tried the chevron folder first, but it kept sliding and making a mess of my cardstock. You, my friend, did a fab job with it. Love the naturals banner and that sweet fabric bow. :)Erika

  2. LOVE your background… clearly I can;t read directions properly… LOL!! I should have used darker colors for mine like you did. We both can't be perfect, huh? 😉 I am case-ing this for my class next month, thank you!!

  3. I had to see how you got your pattern to look so nice! I rarely think to use just the ink pad. Lovely card using a color I need to embrace.

  4. Very Cute!!! Love the color combo!!! The Technique Challenge worked perfect with the chevron folder!! Love the layout and special accents!!!
