Convention CASE/ Scrapbook Sunday!

When I get back from Convention, my head is swimming with ideas and to do lists. I slowly work through my notes and try to get to everything and remember each idea that was sparked. On the very first day of convention, Shelli Gardner (Co founder of SU) did a stamping demo on stage. It was so simple but super cute. I knew I wanted to recreate it.

 She made this magnet board, but the part I loved the most was the embossing and punching of the flower.

Here is is afterwards on display. Beautiful isn’t it?
So, for me The Best of the Best class, I decided to take the flower/bird element and turn it into a very simple scrapbook. I also changed the colors based on what I had on hand for the class and to fit a challenge
You can see it’s very easy and doesn’t require a bunch of “stuff” but it’s beautiful! I made the matt for a 5 X 7, but you could really do any combo of pictures with this set up.

 SO, the flowere is made by stamping the flower from Betsy’s Blossom using Vera Mark onto Tempting Turquoise CS. Sprinkle Clear Embossing Powder and hit it with the heat gun. Next, punch them out using the Blossom punch! That’s the part I though was genius! The punch doesn’t match the stamp! Ha! I don’t think outside the box like this very often.. LOL! But, The stamp is big enough to cover the entire area of the punch. So, now I’m looking at my stamps thinking “hmmmm, what else could I use as a “background” stamp for a different punch?”

 SO, next, curl up the petals using your bone folder. Stack them with Stampin Dimensionals. I layered them over a very Vanilla piece of CS that had been embossed and die cut ( Fancy Fan Embossing Folder and Label Framelit) with the Big Shot.

You can really see the shine in this picture! the button is one of the beautiful Vintage Faceted Buttons.  I also stamped the sentiments from Loving Thought. The little bird is also from Betsy’s Blossoms. The DSP is from Summer Smooches. Lastly, notice I took the same blossom and stamped it all over the base Rich Razzleberry Cardstock with just the Vera Mark. Easy- Peasy!

I was inspired by the colors at The Color Throwdown for this page;

Hope you can also use Shelli’s technique in your next page or card!
