Artisan Award 2013 Entry #8- Paper Camper

Hello and welcome to the 2013 Artisan Design Team Blog Hop! We are spending the next 10 days showing you the projects we slaved over to submit to Stampin’ Up! these are our babies and we are SO PROUD to show them off!

Were do I begin in describing this project… I saw a cake on Pinterest months ago with a camper on it and I thought “I want to make that!” But, my canvas is not cake. It’s paper! So, it swam around in my head for a long time. Once I sat down to make it, surprisingly, it came out exactly as I saw in my mind’s eye!

Believe it or not, this was the easiest of my 10 projects. It was easy because it flowed right out of me with no ripping and tearing of paper involved. All the others were difficult and filled with self doubt (and lots of ripping and tearing and throwing things in the trash!) This one was my baby and turned out exactly as I’d hoped.

There is no template for this. I started with the camper itself and just stared adding as I went. There are some Popsicle sticks, hot glue and a wooden base involved, but other than that, it’s all paper! Oh, and fabric!

The wooded trellis was created using the wood grain stamp. It also has the leaves sizzlit and some of the itty bitty punch flowers.

The sign was created on MDS,

The table has Popsicle sticks in between the paper for durability. They were actually an after thought after I had made the whole thing. I was worried about it not holding up in transport.

Here, you can see the little curtains inside. They are just ruffled piece of Designer Fabric, hot glued behind a Window Sheet. The awning was created using the Word Window Punch.
A little camper bed…

A potted plant…

And of course, a mailbox for all those hand stamped cards and SU orders! 😉

The stepping stones are just the Small Oval Punch.

So there you have it. My most favorite thing I’ve ever made! I hope it’s resting somewhere in the SU office being loved by someone else. It was the first thing i made way back in February last year. So, as it sat on a back table in my office, my little girls would come in and try to play with it. My littlest one would ask “Mama! When are you going to make the people???” LOL! They were sad to see it shipped off too. 🙂
I do plan on typing up some directions for this some day. Some. Day. 🙂 Stay tuned!

Up next is my friend and the UBER talented Jane Lee. Hop on over to check out her AMAZING-ness!
