Artisan Design Team Projects for August 2012

Welcome to my first Artisan Design Team Post!!! I’m so excited!! Everymonth for the next year, I will have 3-4 projects for you specially designed for the Artisan Design Team. Mine will post the second Monday of every month. Each Artisan has an assigned week of the month, and I will post that schedule for you soon!
As I told you last month, I have been chosen for the very prestigious Stampin’ Up Artisan Award Design Team. Part of this honor is that I receive a “mystery box” of supplies each month! How fun! When I received my first one a few weeks ago, it felt like Christmas! I truly have not been surprised in a long time with something! So, opening a box from Stampin’ Up of new and fun supplies was AMAZING to say the least!
This month, we are focusing on the 12-14 In Colors. I received each of the new 12-14 In Color along with the Layered Labels and Itty Bitty Banners stamp sets as well their coordinating Framelits. I hope you enjoy my projects this month!

My first project is a scrapbook page, featuring one of our new family photos! I chose to use Raspberry Ripple and Summer Starfruit to coordinate with my girls’ dresses in the picture. I love both of these colors and I especially love them together!

I recently saw in this paper pleating/weaving in a magazine and couldn’t wait to give it a try! I cut pieces of Raspberry Ripple and Summer Starfruit DSP from the In Color DSP Stack. I then used the Simply Scored tool  to score them at 1/2″ and 1/4″ along the short side. I folded them on these score lines and then adhered them to 1″ X 12″ piece of the same color card stock. Lastly, I wove them on the Early Espresso base! It creates lots of texture and an interesting look to your page!

I love using the Itty Bitty Banner Framelits as journal spots! They are perfect!

I used one of the Layered Label Stamps to create a title. I didn’t use the whole stamp, just the oval part in the middle. I hand cut it out.

After I had adhered my DSP, I decided to run the sewing machine over it a few times to make sure it stays in place.

I love the Paper Daisies! They are embossed here using the Perfect Polka Dots Folder and the Big Shot. They’re made of paper, so you can do anything to them you could do to a piece of paper! The possibilities are endless!
Heartfelt Scrapbook Page Supplies
Stamps: Layered Labels (w-127070/c-127072)

Paper: Early Espresso Cardstock (124276), 12-14 In Color DSP Stack (126910), Raspberry Ripple and Summer Starfruit Cardstock (126836)

Next, I chose to make a monochromatic card with Summer Starfruit. I LOVE this color! It’s so funky and trendy! It really brings my projects to life!

Again, I used the Paper Daisies. This time, I  soaked them in a mixture of rubbing alcohol and Summer Starfruit reinker. I just mixed “some” in a bowl and let the flowers soak for about 10 minutes. I say “some” because y’all know I don’t measure this stuff! I just added ink to the alcohol until I liked the color. They dried quickly and were a beautiful color!

I also used the same stamp from the last project, except this time, I just used the swirl part. I stamped it all over the Whisper White Cardstock with Versa Mark and embossed it with White Embossing Powder. I then used the same reinker mixture and a paintbrush and painted all over the embossed design. This created a watercolor looking background. (This is all on the piece under the flower!) Reinkers are fun and make me feel like a REAL artist! LOL!

I finished everything off with a sentiment from Itty Bitty Banners!

Now, I only had to create three projects today, but like I said on Saturday, I’ve become obsessed! So, I have another one for you here today and another one for you later in the month!

I love weaving paper! It takes me back to grade school I( and my own current classroom!) So, when I thought about making a card that would showcase all five of these beautiful In Colors, I immediately thought about paper weaving! Each strip is from the 12-14 In Color DSP Stack ( a must have for any crafter! These stacks are hands down my favorite things from the catalog! I use them daily!) Each strip measures 1/2″. I also inked the edges of each of the strips with the coordinating ink.

The sentiments is, again, cut out of the original stamp. I then used the matching Framelit to create the rest of the label. I added in a scalloped oval as well. Last, I cut two of the Label shapes that were cut out of Crumb Cake in half and used them behind the original.

I finished it all off with the White uni-ball Signo Pen. Doodling on projects is always a fun touch!
